This past Tuesday UVSC held the fifth anual Vagina Monologues. It was my first time attending .and found it really interesting the different stories that were read.

V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery.

UVSC Orchestra

Every year the orchestra puts on a show called "Concerto Aria". A try out takes place to find the best solo vocalist and instrumentalist on campus. This year three soprano singers, a violinist, bassist and harpist, were chosen to perform accompanied by the orchestra. Two aspiring music majors dedicated their time to writing their own short orchestral pieces and they were performed by the orchestra. This performance uses big orchestral and operatic pieces to entertain the audience. Like many people you may not share a love of classical music, but after a variety show such as this one, you may be intrigued to learn more about the music program at UVSC.

Baby: Olivia Rose Brooks

This past Sunday, the 17th of February, my sister Charity gave birth to her first child. It is a very happy time in my family as she’s the first to have a baby amongst the siblings. They named her Olivia Rose Brooks and I, as her uncle, already really love this little person.

She is really adorable. The nurses at the hospital were complementing my sister on how beautiful her baby is and my sister told the nurses that they probably say that to every parent, to which they replied, actually we don’t. That they see some pretty ugly babies go through their deliveries rooms and that’s the case they compliment the parents on their babies feet or hands or hair.

So I am pretty lucky to have such a beautiful niece. My other niece Presley was born back in October and she came out looking beautiful as well.

I know Olivia will be taking good care of as I know that Greg and Charity will make wonderful parents and will love her unconditionally as parents do.

Hockey: UVU vs. Boise State

This past weekend the UVU Hockey Team took on Boise State and beat them 9 to 5 on Friday and then 10 to 2 on Saturday.
